Massage:
“I am so blessed to have two jobs that have never actually feel like work to me. Massage therapy and photography are very different but with both I feel like I can help people and make them happy. Giving relaxation, relieving pain, capturing memories and making people smile-how lucky am I?!! . Going to school to become a massage therapist came about as the result of having several jobs where I was helping others but didn’t always get to see the positive effects of my work. Through attending Baker college and learning about the human body, how it works and how massage can improve function, I knew massage was something I would love doing. The first time someone fell asleep during their massage, I was so proud to know that I was reason they were able to relax! It is very rewarding to give relief to those in pain, sometimes instantly, and to be able to see in on their face when they get off my table.. Massage fulfills my need to help people and at them same time gives me the kind of job satisfaction that I haven’t found at any other work place.
Photography:
Photography is a hobby that began when I was very young. I was the little kid with the disposable camera taking photos of my pets and trees and whatever else was interesting to me at the time. The fascination continued throughout my school-aged years as I upgraded to film cameras and eventually a digital point and shoot. In college I found myself taking several classes that showed me that photography could do more than freeze a moment in time. I realized that I could capture emotion and be an artist and make people happy all at the same time-I was hooked! My career as a photographer began 3 years ago when I was asked to take my cousin’s Senior portraits. I asked other family members and friends if I could take their photos as well and through word of mouth advertising began booking families, children, seniors and thanks to a very brave bride, a wedding! Several weddings and countless portrait sessions later I’ve realized my favorite moment to capture is when someone lets their guard down and gives me a genuine, honest-to-goodness smile. That’s what I’m looking for every time I get behind the lens!
